Please contact Barbara (bmattson@nationalpyr.org), (518) 610-1338 for more information about this pet. National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) NEEDS FOSTER HOMES. National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) is not a shelter. We are a coalition of rescuers that saves Pyrs and Pyr mixes and places them in approved foster homes to see how they intereact with kids, cats, dogs and people. Every NGPR dog has been fostered for two weeks or more, spayed or neutered and fully vetted. NGPR will take back any dog who does not succeed in its new home. Many volunteers are members of the AKC breed club, adhere to its rescue guidelines and apply these standards to the adoption of Pyr mixes as well. Visit www.nationalpyr.org to learn more about us and the breed.  We work with Pyr rescues and all-breed rescue groups across the country to pull Pyrs and Pyr mixes from shelters and find them homes. These large breed dogs last only a few days in kill shelters. A heroic group of rescuers has been saving Pyrs in the South, Texas and the Midwest but there aren't enough fosters to house them in the places they come from. Every dog that goes into foster allows us to pull another dog from a shelter. Please go to National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) to learn more about the breed.
