Description

Great Pyrenees - Large - Young - Female - Dog - Precious in NY
Description
* { font:inherit; } Precious is approximately 18 month old, small (about 75 lbs) Great Pyrenees  that needs a special home where her gentle loving personality will be appreciated.  Precious had a previous problem with jumping but she now understands “no” and instead of jumping she sits nicely, wiggling with happiness, because she knows she is going to get a good petting.  Precious is good with other dogs, with cats, and people although she has the Pyrenees trait of using her paws to get your attention which should be considered if your family has small children.  She loves to take walks (& walks well on leash) and loves to play with her foster dog friends & with her dog park dog friends.  She will be a very good dog for her new family and will shower them with her great kisses.  The past four months Precious has had a tough time with kidney disease but her kidneys are recovering nicely.  She previously had to go potty 4 – 5 times each night however now she only needs one, and sometimes no, after bedtime potty breaks.  She is very good at waking you up if she needs to potty.  She must be kept on a KD diet, given fish oil supplements and must be allowed to keep drinking lots of water until a vet determines that her kidney disease is cured. She is a friendly, healthy, alert, young lady that is just waiting to please her new family. NGPR Pooch Profile Name: Deja/Precious Age: 1 yr. We are a not-for-profit, tax-exempt coalition of Pyr rescuers and rescue groups. We save Pyrs and Pyr mixes across the country and place them in approved foster homes to learn how they will interact with your family. Every dog who is fostered or adopted makes room for another Pyr coming out of a kill shelter. NGPR dogs are fostered for a minimum of two weeks or more, spayed or neutered and fully vetted before placement. NGPR will take back any dog who does not succeed in its new home. Many NGPR volunteers are members of the AKC breed club, adhere to their rescue guidelines for purebred Pyrs and apply these standards to the adoption of Pyr mixes as well. Visit www.nationalpyr.org to learn more about us, our mission and our breed. More Information: Questions? The fastest way to learn more about a dog is to fill out the application form below. If you call or e-mail you are reducing your chances of adopting this animal as we direct our time and energy to first serving those who apply. For more information about our adoption process please visit our adoption information page. Want to help but can’t adopt now? You can make a tax-exempt donation by visiting our donation page. This exceptional Great Pyrenees dog has been selected for sponsorship by National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR). We have many Pyrs and Pyr mixes who need homes and not all of them are posted.
