Great Pyrenees - Large - Young - Female - Dog - Amanda-SpecNeed
Description
Amanda is a sweet little approx. 1 yr old Great Pyrenees we pulled from a kill shelter. She is SEVERELY malnourished, just getting over severe upper respiratory infection, slight HW+ and now has been diagnosed with diabetes (on Fri). Our vet was almost recommending putting her down - who would want to adopt a dog with diabetes, the cost of getting her regulated and cost of her care. I am not sure the answers but felt I could not give up on this sweet girl that has had a hard first year of her life. The vet has her on vetsulin (9 units) and W/D food. She wants me to give her the vetsulin for 2 wks and then she will go in for the all day testing (have no idea the cost on this). Amanda means: Worthy of being loved. This sweet girl wants and needs love. We'll keep her posting up to date as she recovers...To see more pics of Amanda, click here.NGPR Pooch Profile Name: Amanda-In Texas - Special NeedsAge: Young Color: White Dew Claws: Unknown Estimated Adult Weight: Unknown Origin: Texas Current Location: NGPR Approved Foster in TexasMedical: Spayed or neutered, dewormed, negative for heartworm, up-to-date on vaccinations and currently on flea, tick and heartworm preventative. Thanks. About Us: National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) is not a shelter. We are a not-for-profit, tax-exempt coalition of Pyr rescuers and rescue groups. We save Pyrs and Pyr mixes across the country and place them in approved foster homes to learn how they will interact with your family. Every dog who is fostered or adopted makes room for another Pyr coming out of a kill shelter. NGPR dogs are fostered for a minimum of two weeks or more, spayed or neutered and fully vetted before placement. NGPR will take back any dog who does not succeed in its new home. Many NGPR volunteers are members of the AKC breed club, adhere to their rescue guidelines for purebred Pyrs and apply these standards to the adoption of Pyr mixes as well.
