Great Pyrenees - Extra Large - Young - Female - Dog - Mandy
Description
Mandy is weighing 84 pounds, but the vet feels she is about 20 pounds underweight. We are going to put some weight on her and then she will start her heartworm treatment. They did not want to do her surgery first, so after her treatment we will have her fixed. She said that the eye was from an old injury and she will not be able to gain her vision back due to all of the scar tissue. Other than that she is a very heathy dog. I gave her a little haircut today to get the matted, muddy hair off. She is off to the groomers in the morning for a well deserved bath. She walks on the leash really well. I put the chicken wire up on the top of my fence and it seems to be holding her now. I never even dreamed that a dog that size could fit through the slats. Tonight when I went out back she was around on the side of the house. I called for her and she came right up to me to pet her on the head. She ate a little for me tonight, but did better when I put a can of dog food into her bowl. She came into the house a little this afternoon and was my shadow. She just followed me around. She is warming up to me so it won't be long before I turn her into a couch potato.NGPR Pooch Profile Name: Mandy-In Texas Age: Young Color: White Dew Claws: Unknown Estimated Adult Weight: Unknown Origin: Texas Current Location: NGPR Approved Foster in TexasMedical: Spayed or neutered, dewormed, negative for heartworm, up-to-date on vaccinations and currently on flea, tick and heartworm preventative. We save Pyrs and Pyr mixes across the country and place them in approved foster homes to learn how they will interact with your family. Every dog who is fostered or adopted makes room for another Pyr coming out of a kill shelter. NGPR dogs are fostered for a minimum of two weeks or more, spayed or neutered and fully vetted before placement. NGPR will take back any dog who does not succeed in its new home. Many NGPR volunteers are members of the AKC breed club, adhere to their rescue guidelines for purebred Pyrs and apply these standards to the adoption of Pyr mixes as well.
